With over 9000 members and more than 140 years of history, the American Fisheries Society is one of the largest and most influential organisations dedicated to improving the conservation and sustainability of fishery resources and aquatic ecosystems. AFS accomplishes this goal by advancing fisheries and aquatic science and promoting the development of fisheries professionals, including undergraduate and graduate students. Under the umbrella of the parent society are Divisions, Sections, Chapters and Subunits that provide countless opportunities to students and young professionals.
